Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my laser treatment?

You should avoid exposure to the sun for at least 14 days prior to treatment. Avoid waxing, plucking, electrolysis, or bleaching for at least 4 to 6 weeks prior & after to your treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, we may prescribe prophylactic antiviral therapy. Your skin should be clean, shaven, and free of creams, oils, makeup, tanning products, etc. Wait until your skin tan has faded before starting your treatment.

How long will it take, do I need more than one session?

The number of sessions you’ll need and the time it takes depends on the color and type of your hair, the body area being treated, and your specific skin tone. Laser hair removal will require multiple sessions, whereas others may need as little as one session.

What are the side effects, is it safe?

Laser treatment procedures have been performed safely for many years. Side effects may include, but usually do not last more than a few days: swelling, hyperpigmentation, redness, hypopigmentation, purpura, and blistering.

What does it feel like, will it hurt?

At Revive Skin Solutions, we use Candela’s GentleMax Pro, which has a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™). DCD is there to make sure your treatment is as comfortable and effective as can be. Some may feel a slight discomfort, almost as if someone is snapping a rubber band on your skin. However, the DCD prepares you for the treatment by spraying a cool burst of cryogen, milliseconds before the laser pulse, on the upper layer of your skin to provide cooling.

When will I see results?

Hair growth will reduce after each laser hair appointment; however, you will see results after you finish your first appointment.

Who is/is not a good candidate for laser treatment?

If you are pregnant or nursing, you should not proceed with laser treatment. Unlike other machines, at Revive Skin Solutions, we use Syneron Candela’s GentleMax Pro, which can treat all skin types/colors.

What should I do after my treatment?

Make sure to avoid exposure to the sun and use SPF 30 sunblock or above. For the first few days, do not rinse or scrub the area with harsh skin cleansers.

Will my insurance cover these laser treatments?

Since these are cosmetic procedures, most insurance carriers will not offer reimbursement. However, some insurance companies will cover treatments if they are for disfiguring birthmarks like hemangiomas.
